Pimp my Elise!

It's about time to start pimping out my Elise, er, at least getting close to that time. I've got some goodies on order and a couple maintenace things to take care of with the car later next week so stay tuned for a "spent the day working on the Elise" post. Some of the things on the agenda...
  • Install Blaupunkt iPod Interface

  • Install "lidbone" (LINK to product @ Sector111)

  • change the oil (how exciting!)

  • get condensation out of driver's side turn signal

The thing I'm most excited about is the iPod installation. The interface will allow me to plug in my 5G 60Gb iPod and listen to & control it from the factory Blaupunkt head unit. I'm going nuts listening to CDs. Anyone who has never used an iPod in their car won't understand that though, but for those of you that have/do I'm sure you understand what I mean. It's like HAVING to listen to crappy, repetitve, radio because you don't have a CD. I've been using an iPod (3G 10Gb) in my Suzuki Aerio SX for two years and some change now and I am VERY spoiled by it. I'm sure that running the cable through the dash is going to be a real joy (sarcasm) but it will DEFINITELY be worth it!

The lidbone is a new product from Sector111, one of the few US distributors/makers of aftermarket Elise products. It's a nifty little contraption that lets you open the engine lid (boot lid? whats the official term anyway) with one hand and hold it in place without having to fumble with the prop. As someone that often has to get a big laptop bag (Brenthaven Pro bag with 17" Apple Powerbook) into the Elise while holding his keys this will be another great addition. My only worry is that it will rattle while the car is running (the base bolts to the cam cover) but the creators have said a few times that they "haven't noticed any extra noise". Hopefully thats true and this will be nothing but a great little addition to an already awesome little car.

Well, I'm off to bed, look for the pimped Elise post towards the end of next week (Derby week for you Kentucky folks!)....

(yep, and no new photos, been too busy working and driving ;)
